Red Buffalo Coffee & Tea is a community oriented coffee and tea house that seeks to provide exceptional service and quality products to Silverthorne's residents and visitors.
Founded in 2010 by Erin Young, Red Buffalo Cafe seeks to foster a sense of community and home. Often her family can be seen running around the cafe. Erin, family, and staff all believe in giving back and regularly volunteer with local, national, and global initiatives.
Zero Waste-We are a zero waste coffee shop. All of our cups, lids, etc. are made of plant materials from Eco Products in Boulder and will be composted at the Summit County Resource Allocation Park. Plastic, glass, aluminum, and cardboard products are recycled by Waste Management Single Stream Recycling. It is estimated that we have diverted over 750,000 cups and lids from the landfill!
Sourcing- Over 80% of our products come from an 80 mile radius. We also ask our suppliers that ship to us to ship using recyclable materials. Education- Help train other restaurants in becoming zero waste and energy efficient.
Coffee shops help form a sense of community. Whether people come to chat with friends or conduct business with associates, coffee shops around the world are a gathering place for people. Because we consider Silverthorne such a good home we continually do what we can to support our great community as they help support us. For example, in 2017, Red Buffalo led the charge with the Silverthorne Chapter of the Summit Chamber of Commerce to eliminate school lunch debt for the 2017/2018 school year at Silverthorne and Dillon Valley Elementary School.
Red Buffalo Cafe has also adopted it's neighboring segment of the Blue River Trail from 6th Ave to Rainbow Drive. You might occasionally see our staff members giving the path a good trash pick up.
