Red Buffalo Coffee & Tea is a community oriented coffee and tea house that seeks to provide exceptional service and quality products to Silverthorne's residents and visitors.
Founded in 2010 by Erin Young, Red Buffalo Cafe seeks to foster a sense of community and home. Often her family can be seen running around the cafe. Erin, family, and staff all believe in giving back and regularly volunteer with local, national, and global initiatives.
Carbon Offsets- We currently run all LED and Halogen bulbs from the bathrooms to the overhead lights. We also insulate our building and piping and thus use ZERO therms of gas to heat our unit.
Sourcing- Over 80% of our products come from an 80 mile radius. We also ask our suppliers that ship to us to ship using recyclable materials.
Community Action- Adopted 1/2 Mile of Blue River Clean Up and partnering with community organizations for sustainability education.
Coffee shops help form a sense of community. Whether people come to chat with friends or conduct business with associates, coffee shops around the world are a gathering place for people. Because we consider Silverthorne such a good home, we continually do what we can to support our great community as they help support us. For example, starting in 2017, Red Buffalo led the charge with the Silverthorne Chapter of the Summit Chamber of Commerce to eliminate school lunch debt for the Summit School District Elementary Schools. This initiative has raised over $20,000 for kids lunches.
Erin is the proud owner of Red Buffalo Café. Its obvious that Erin has a passion for coffee. If you are lucky enough to know Erin then you already know that she really recognizes the importance of community and the role that her coffee shop plays in the community. She has her hands in a variety of service projects all over the county and she also pushes her employees to get involved as much as possible. If you don't know Erin, you might have heard her on the radio or seen her in the newspaper, or you might have even seen her on the T.V. screen. As soon as you meet Erin you will quickly find that she isn't just passionate about coffee, she is passionate about life. She is active in all aspects of it. When she isn't doing something coffee of community related you might see her judging pro ski events like X Games, Dew Tour, and World Cups.
This is Kristy! You'll find her rockin' her rainbow hair behind our bar most mornings. She loves anything chocolate (hint hint) and you'll often find her reading James Patterson. Her go-to hobbies are crafting, long walks on the beach, and fried chicken! Our favorite fun fact we have learned about her is that she loves to collect vintage toys!
Meet Dana! She came to us from Copper Mountain and is originally from New York. Her favorite color is purple, and her favorite sando in the area is from Cheba Hut. She loves hiking, skating, and is just learning how to shred the pow (yes that is sarcasm). m service.
Originally a West Coast native, Maddi has been in Summit County now for 7 years. She is possibly the bubbliest person we know. Even grumpy Maddi is happier than everyone else's best attitude. She enjoys snowboarding in the winter and hiking in the summer with the flowers, bees and the worms! Her favorite drink is water... filtered through coffee beans.
Heidi has been around for a while now. . . we can't shake her, and we aren't mad about it! Her favorite grownup bevvy is chocolate milk, and she likes to be outside. When you come in you'll know she is working because country music will probably be playing (unless Amron's here, that is against her rules.) You can also find her jewelry for sale here at the Cafe.
